The 1st seed started off well, breaking Coria in his first two service games, but Coria did not stop fighting. Coria broke twice throughout the match, but it did not match Ruud's 5 breaks throughout. Ruud was just the more superior opponent, having much more energy in the tank over the tournament, losing only 7 games compared to 33 of Coria. Ruud just held that extra aggression, and forced Coria on the defensive for most of the match. Although Coria can enjoy this, on clay, against Ruud is a different story, being able to finish points from the baseline as any player in the top 20 does well. Ruud gaining his 3rd title on tour (All outdoor clay).
