ATP Bastad 🇸🇪 QF Results

Federico Coria d Cristian Garin (2) 6-4 4-6 6-2

Coria has been lucky to still be in the draw, after having a relatively close match at each stage of the event here in Bastad. Both players had their opportunities, but Garin just did not look his usual self, only winning an average of 54% on his serve. Both traded a break early in the second set, but it was Garin upholding the pressure on the Argentine, to steal a set point of Coria's serve. Coria did well to stop the momentum shift, closing the third set out convincingly.

Yannick Hanfmann d Arthur Rinderknech 6-4 6-3

Hanfmann has not yet dropped a set this tournament, and is looking in superb form. Early breaks were traded in the first two games, but it was the German opening the gap a bit wider; breaking once more in the set, but winning the set on his 7th attempt. The second set saw the German break once again. Hanfmann winning 85% of his first serves, and looking dominant against a player who is predominantly very aggressive.

Casper Ruud (1) d Henri Laaksonen (WALKOVER)

The Norwegian with an easy walkover into the Semi-Finals. Laaksonen had played 9 matches in 10 days, likely leading him to withdraw from the event.

Roberto Carballes Baena d Norbert Gombos 6-4 6-2

Carballes Baena has played well so far this tournament, only losing one set to Fognini. This was a very aggressive match, with the likely winner the man who stayed in front of the baseline. Both players were serving average, but groundstrokes were insane! Baena proved to be just a bit more consistent. Gombos breaking Baena when he was serving for the set, but dropping the next game to love, showing the expense of inconsistency. Baena had a match point to make it 6-0, but Gombos kept the aggression up, even breaking back once, to keep the scoreline a tad more respectable, despite losing both the sets to breaks of his service game to love.
