ATP Los Cabos🇲🇽 Round of 16

Alex Bolt d Emilio Gomez 6-3 6-1

Alex Bolt was too good for the man from Ecuador, winning 85% of first serves, and converting 4/6 break points. Unstoppable! Gomez had no answer, and could not convert any of his two break points.

Cameron Norrie (1) d Elias Ymer 7-6(4) 6-3

Norrie had his challenges, only having 2 break points, but converting both in his straight sets victory over the Swede. Ymer had his chances, but Norrie's flat consistent shots forced Ymer to do more, but was just too inconsistent.

Ernest Escobedo d Denis Kudla 6-4 7-6(9)

After a 3h 13m match yesterday, Kudla was sure to be in for a ride, and needed to win in straight sets. After Escobedo took an early break in the first set, Kudla tried to fight back, but in the end had no success.

Jordan Thompson (5) d Sebastian Ofner 3-6 6-4 7-5

Thompson survived a tough start to get a great win over the Austrian. Ofner is definitely an up n comer, but this close match was more on Thompson. The Aussie only converting 2/11 break points compared to Ofner, converting both of his 2 break points.

Steve Johnson (6) d Yasutaka Uchiyama 7-6(4) 6-3

Both players competed relatively well, but it was the American more acclimatised to the conditions, and getting the better of the Jap. Johnson was just better on the return game, creating the opportunities to break.

John Isner (2) d Evgeny Donskoy 7-5 3-6 7-6(5)

Isner does it again! Using his serve to get out of jail! This should be illegal!! Isner serving 25-8 aces in an extremely close match, going right down to the wire. Only one break each in the match, but it was Isner winning 91% of first serves, simply too good for the Russian.

Brandon Nakashima d Sam Querrey 6-3 6-4

Nakashima is a talent that just keeps on giving. Querrey has been in good form, but Nakashima showing he can withhold Querrey's serve, and be aggressive, especially on Querrey's second serve. Nakashima holding his own, creating no break points on his own serve, but breaking Querrey twice in the match to claim a nice straight sets victory.

Taylor Fritz (3) d Ilya Marchenko 6-1 6-7(9) 7-5

Fritz, just like Isner, surviving an epic three set match! Fritz serving 15 aces to 6, and winning 86% of first serves compared to just 63% for the Ukrainian. Fritz's return game was also classy, converting 5/13 break points compared to just 2/5 for Marchenko.
