It was a relatively close battle, with many break point opportunities. 3/10 converted for the German, and 3/17 converted for the Frenchman. The German arguably served better, but it came down to a relatively even match, with Gasquet showing the experience to gain a crucial final break.

The Spaniard looked hot early, breaking Ramos-Vinolas' serve twice. It was difficult to see Ramos-Vinolas coming back after being down a break in the second set, but with 8 breaks of the match, and 3 of them going to the elder Spaniard, the 1st seed was able to claw his way into the match, and force a tiebreaker. Garfia kept producing the shots, pushing Vinolas too wide and too deep. Garfia earning his first ATP Final!
